Can't import photos into new LR5 installation, no import option, just error message saying "an error occurred while attempting to change modules"

This is a new MacBook with a new CC LR5 installation. There is however no menu choice allowing me to import photos. Np right or left panels at all. When the program opens I get an error message saying there was an error changing modules.
