Did you buy your one year membership from Adobe or a reseller? From the help page you reference there is a link for the Adobe Student and Teacher edition: Serial number, Redemption, and Product codes | Student & Teacher Editions. Instructions differ depending on if bought your membership from Adobe or a reseller.
After that just sign in with your Adobe ID at Adobe: Creative, marketing, and document management solutions and then choose the link for Desktop at Explore Adobe desktop apps | Adobe Creative Cloud to start downloading and installing the applications.
